Bigfork Harbor Homeowners Association

FAQ's

(Frequently Asked Questions)

GENERAL QUESTIONS:

Q: Why do we need a website for the Bigfork Harbor Homeowners Association & what does it cost?

A: The Bigfork Harbor website is a central place to get almost everything you need to know about what is going on at BHHA, and in the Flathead Valley. While most of the "Homeowners" live outside of Bigfork, except in the summer, it is a great way to keep up with what is going on in Montana ....you're second home! Additionally, it makes it easy for Denise to convey information in a timely fashion, and a way to inform your "visitors / renters" (prior to their stay) of the "Rules of BHHA".

The first year website fees & time have been donated by the webmaster. The cost is about $10.00 per month to host a website like www.bigforkharbor.net. If the "Homeowners" decide that this is a valuable tool, then we may continue the BHHA website after the first year.

The BHHA website will not replace the US Mail, or direct emails, or postings at the Trash & Mailbox location at BHHA. Not everyone uses a computer, and some information has to be delivered in another format.

Q: Can we get a "User Name" and "Password" so that the homeowner names and units can be listed for members viewing only?

A: With the current website package, this could not be done to accommodate everyone at BHHA. The purpose of this website is to keep it simple. To have "User Names & Passwords" would escalate the cost to BHHA in the future, and require more monitoring, ---also at additional $$'s.

Q: Why can't I see all of the BHHA documents listed on the website?

A: Before any BHHA documents are posted on the website, the Board wants to make sure everything is "accurate" and representative of the information that would be posted. The "Board" will review requests for additional documents to be posted on the BHHA website.

You can always request a "hard copy", or, an email of documents ...to be sent from Denise.

Q: What requires "BHHA approval" before I move forward?

A: You need to fill out a "BHHA Request Form" for the following items (and they need to be pre-approved prior to implementing): Pet requests, Satellite dish installation, Air Conditioner installation, and any changes to the internal "construction" of your condo unit. All these forms can be requested through the "BHHA Member's "Request Form" available in the Member's section of the website.

Computer Questions:

Q: I cannot read the PDF documents, or the characters are "foreign" looking, and, ---what is PDF anyway?

A: Most computers have Adobe Reader as part of their software when you buy a computer. If you think you don't have this software on your computer, or, it needs to be updated, ----you can download it free from the Adobe Reader website by doing a "Google search", or, by going to http://get.adobe.com/reader/ ------to get the correct version for your computer operating system.

PDF-----Portable Document Format (PDF) is a file format created by Adobe Systems in 1993 for document exchange. PDF is used for representing two-dimensional documents in a manner independent of the application software, hardware, and operating system.[1] Each PDF file encapsulates a complete description of a fixed-layout 2D document (and, with Acrobat 3D, embedded 3D documents) that includes the text, fonts, images, and 2D vector graphics which compose the documents.

Basically, most website's where you view documents & instructions, are in PDF format. You should add this to your computer.

Q: I don't seem to be getting the updated version of the pages of the www.bigforkharbor.net website, or, they seem "outdated".

A: Periodically you need to "Refresh/Reload" each of the pages in any website when you view them again, especially for pages that change their content frequently. Your computer, in order to save time, loads a page from the computer memory when going back to a previously visited website. To insure, you have the latest information, "Refresh/Reload" your pages.

Also, sometimes it is a good idea to "Empty the cache", and "Clear history" for your web browser in order to get a fresh start-up of the website you are visiting.
